Do you like big bowls and platters? Then this class is for you! Join Nathan in his studio to experience how he creates his XXL dropout vessels, hands-on. Each participant will leave the workshop with a finished, very large (14” diameter) dropout vessel as well as two 8” diameter vessels AND the custom drop out ring used during the workshop. In class projects will be made of combinations of frit but students will find that the methods used to form the blank are applicable to many different designs and forms of glass. This class is structured so that each student has access to their own kiln and therefore (nearly) complete control over the outcome of their vessel. All are skill levels are welcome. There are no prerequisites, though glasscutting experience and a willingness to experiment and have fun learning are helpful.
